Welcome to Islam
A Shahada certificate (Certificate of Embracing Islam) is issued after a person embraces Islam of their own free will, having been informed of their rights and obligations as a Muslim. There is no charge.
· Photo ID. Please bring original photo ID — a passport, UK photo driving licence, or government-issued photo ID. A student/NUS card, birth certificate or utility bill cannot be accepted. We photocopy the original and return it to you the same day; photocopies of originals are not accepted.
· Two Muslim witnesses. Two witnesses (who must be Muslim) are needed. They can complete their details in person when you attend.
· What happens next. Your enquiry is reviewed and the necessary checks made. On approval you will be contacted to collect your certificate. If an application cannot proceed, you will be told the reason.
